Keynote speakers define the theme of any conference and highlight what is important. This year at the Sussex Business Show 2023, the keynote speakers directed our attention to ‘Mental Health’. Far more than being just a buzzword, good mental health is the foundation of business.

Sonny, the founder of the show, agrees with Mark and prioritises well-being in his own life as well as in other aspects of his various business ventures (like the Entrepreneurs Blog). At the Sussex Business Show, therefore, it was fitting that the keynote speakers gave powerful talks surrounding the topic.
The theme set the stage, but the keynote speakers stole the show.
Audience members were treated to insights from four leading entrepreneurs from Brighton: Flo Powell, of Midnight, James Dempster of Fox & Bear, Claire Griffiths of Brighton University and Gavin Willis of Search Seven. Each shared their own story, their learnings and their growth with the room, creating a feeling of intimacy even with the large audience sizes.
Gavin’s story also had an altruistic twist – his business gives away 7% of the company’s profits every year to the charity sector. Recently an event at the Grand Hotel showcased their outstanding achievement – a whopping £100,000 raised for 40+ charities over the years.

The event didn’t just feature phenomenal keynote speakers. Following on from the theme of mental health, the show featured eight Masterclass Talks. Each captivated the audience with presentations from daily business challenges to topics like well-being, sales, marketing, beyond net zero, storytelling and so much more.
Speakers included Yaron Engler, Camille Pierson, Ben Bennett, Alice Reeves, Jeremy Jacobs, Roksana Awning, Michael Kennard and Roxy Van Der Post. And all drew expertise, anecdotes and wisdom from their various backgrounds and experiences.
The show to be a sponge
For those seeking inspirational stories, excellent (and actionable) ideas and valuable tips, this event was the place to be. The keynote speakers, coupled with the masterclass talks, gave audience members rich insight into how they could improve their businesses.
